Review herQs Smokeless Firepit Blaze: la firepit casi sin humo definitiva?

Our Experience

Unboxing & Build Quality: What's in the Box?

The herQs Blaze arrives in a substantial box, and as soon as you unpack it, you immediately feel the quality. At 10.3 kg, it's heavy enough to be stable, yet still portable. The entire unit is made of premium 304 Stainless Steel, which is crucial for a fire pit that stays outdoors. This material is highly rust-resistant and extremely heat-tolerant. Besides the fire pit itself, it features an integrated ash pan and comes with a convenient carrying bag.

The Combustion Triangle: Why the herQs Blaze Produces So Little Smoke

To understand why the herQs Blaze produces so much less smoke than a regular fire pit, you need to go back to the basics of fire chemistry. Fire needs three elements: fuel (wood), oxygen (air), and heat (temperature). This is called the combustion triangle. In a regular open fire pit, the oxygen supply is uncontrolled and the temperature relatively low, resulting in incomplete combustion. HerQs has radically redesigned the combustion triangle. The double-wall construction has two layers of stainless steel with an air channel in between. Cold outside air flows in through the bottom openings, heats up in this channel, and shoots into the combustion chamber as preheated high-speed air. Result: the temperature rises significantly, unburned gases are ignited—this is the visible ring of flames at the top—and you are left with almost only CO₂ and water vapor. Smoke-free.

Lighting Up: The Swiss Stoking Method

We used the Swiss stoking method to light the fire pit. It's simple: build your fire upside down. Place large logs crosswise at the bottom, smaller pieces on top, and end with firelighters at the very top. By lighting it from the top down, the combustion chamber is already at temperature by the time the flame reaches the larger logs. The herQs Blaze reaches its operating temperature incredibly fast this way.

Wood Type and Moisture Content: The Biggest Variable

The combustion triangle only works optimally if the fuel cooperates. Wet or 'green' wood (over 25% moisture) sabotages the entire system. The fire's energy goes first into evaporating the moisture, causing the temperature to drop. Here are the best wood types for the herQs Blaze, in order of preference. Always use wood with a moisture content below 20%.
Oak
Top Choice

Long-burning, stable, and intense heat. The standard for a relaxing evening.

Beech
High Temp

Neutral flavor, burns extremely hot and clean. Ideal for maximum secondary combustion.

Fruit Woods
Apple · Cherry

Beautiful, bright flame with a subtle fruity scent. Great for atmosphere.

Wood Pellets
Consistent

Pressed shavings with 8–10% moisture. Stable, efficient, and great for small storage.

The Ultimate Test: A Truly Smoke-Free and Odorless Experience?

Does the smokeless concept really work? Simply put: yes! Once the secondary combustion kicks in, the Blaze is indeed smokeless. You have the atmosphere and the beautiful flames, but not the stinging smoke in your eyes. The ultimate proof? After testing, our clothes smelled like... nothing! The firepit is practically odorless in practice.

Warning: This Smokeless Firepit Gets Extremely Hot!

Our honest experience regarding heat output: this fire pit produces a massive amount of heat due to its efficient combustion. We placed it under a 3.5-meter deep veranda, and sitting at 1 to 1.5 meters was actually too hot! The Blaze is simply too powerful for tight, covered spaces. Always keep sufficient distance for a safe and comfortable experience.
Safety Advice

Keep at least 2 meters distance. Under a cover of less than 3.5 meters deep, this fire pit is too powerful. The increased heat output is a direct result of efficient secondary combustion.

Cleaning & Maintenance

A common complaint with regular fire pits is cleaning up the ash. herQs has thought this through: the ash falls through the bottom plate into a catch pan. Once fully cooled, you can easily empty this tray into the bin. Clean it occasionally with mild soapy water, and cover it if left outside in the rain for extended periods.

Competition: herQs Blaze vs Solo Stove

The herQs Blaze vs the famous Solo Stove Bonfire. Both operate on the same principle. Why do we prefer the herQs? The price-quality ratio. The herQs Blaze is made of the same high-quality 304 Stainless Steel and delivers the same smoke-free experience, but is often much more competitively priced in Europe.

Puntos fuertes

  • Truly smokeless (after full ignition)
  • Clothes and hair stay odorless
  • High-quality 304 Stainless Steel material
  • Massive heat output via efficient combustion
  • Ash pan included for easy cleaning
  • Lifetime warranty

Puntos debiles

  • Too powerful for small covered areas (< 3.5 meters deep)
  • Requires dry wood (< 20% moisture) for optimal performance
  • Wood consumption is relatively high due to efficiency

THE VERDICT

4.5

"The herQs Smokeless Firepit Blaze is an absolute recommendation for anyone who loves the atmosphere of a campfire but wants to skip the smoke. The smokeless concept works—and once you understand the combustion triangle, you understand why. It's a well-thought-out piece of engineering in a sleek 304 SS jacket. If you have the space, this is your new best friend for after the BBQ!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the herQs Blaze truly 100% smokeless?

Once the fire pit is up to temperature and secondary combustion starts (the flames from the top holes), it is virtually 100% smokeless. Only during start-up might you see some smoke briefly.

Can I use the Blaze under a patio cover?

Yes, provided the cover is high enough and open on at least two sides. Be mindful of the massive heat output; this smokeless firepit gets extremely hot.

What is the best way to light this fire pit?

We recommend the Swiss stoking method (top-down). Place large logs at the bottom and firelighters at the top. This ensures the fastest smoke-free ignition.
